A minimalistic look has been permeating the collections for several seasons have now served as the base for a multitude of masculine creations.

Elements of traditional British style complete with menswear inspired patterns including an abundance of tartans and stripes filled the runways. The distinguished feature was the usage of tweed and stiff bonding as a treatment of materials to render shoulders, sleeves, and the back in unique proportions.

On the other hand, a seductive look was created through the use of sheer fabrics and corset details which emerged as another key trend. Contrasting elements such as details from uniforms and sportswear were worked into the sensual ensembles underpinned by a fetish mood. Military and bomber jackets were worn with high waist pencil skirts to create a resolutely ladylike image.

Belts, hats and gloves were among the many accessories essential to this season’s styling. The juxtaposition between fabrics and patterns were thrown together to create a high impact, graphic effect. Surreal designs created from an assortment of different items created a dramatic style. Geometric, baroque and ethnic patterns made key appearances throughout the New York, Paris and Milan runways producing style that successfully made harmonious combinations that were a true test to all designers talents.
